Tony's Project

How Ol Blue Found Her Man.

Finding Ol Blue was a bit of a fluke, a bit of luck and a lot of just plain old meant to be. One night Tony was upstairs looking on Craigslist at Mustangs for sale. He stumbled across one that the asking price was $650 for a 1970 mustang coupe. There were no pictures. It was midnight, obviously too late to call. He emailed me the ad and I asked if he was going to call in the morning. He said it wouldn't be there. Morning came, he didn't call. Afternoon arrived and I asked if he had called. He said he hadn't, I said he should it might still be there. He called and yes the mustang was still available. When we arrived we hadn't even gotten fully out of the car when the owner walked over and said $600 would get her out of his driveway. Tony was walking around looking at her. The owner had her running. I was pulling money out of my pocket before Tony had even said he wanted her. I didn't have the whole amount and asked the man if he would take what I had as a deposit while we ran to the bank. He did. We went to the bank pulled out the rest of the money and when we came back there were cars lined up outside the man's house waiting to see if we were coming back. Even though the car ran he didn't trust it would make it to our house and her plates were expired so while we wee gone he had loaded her onto a car trailer ready to bring her home for us. The pictures at this time show exactly how she was recieved. A little rough but all there and not rusted out. She does run and has less then 75,000 original miles on the engine. She was neglected but her spirit is strong. The previous owner...he did know what he had, he knew he could have sold her for a lot more. He had a garage full of cars he has restored and shows...but he had bought the mustang as a project car for him and his grandson to do and his grandson decided he was into bugs instead. Tony originally wanted a 65 or 66 and sometimes I feel a little guilty that I didn't give him much of a choice but to purchase her. But he is happy with the project car he got and what he has discovered is that there aren't a whole lot of 70's out there, making it even more special.
